Goku is the main character of the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z saga. You
can hear him also being refered to as Kakarott. It is his Saiyon birth name.
He was sent from the planet Vegeta to conquer Earth. (The Saiyons survive
by capturing planets and selling them to the highest bidder) He was adopted
by Gohan who found him next to his space pod. As a child he had a very bad
temper and was a real pain in the ass, until he fell into a ravine and hit his
head. This completly erased his memory of conquering Earth and it settled
him down. Gohan then taught Goku how to become a skilled fighter and
warrior. However Gohan was killed by Goku when he transformed into a big
ape (Oozaru) after seeing moonlight. Goku's tail was then surgically removed
so such an accident couldn't happen again. Goku has a whole bunch of
adventures as a young boy which was spawned into the Dragon Ball episodes.
I have never seen them so I can't really go into detail. Later on in life
(Dragon Ball Z), Goku marries Chi Chi and has two sons . . . Gohan (named

Gohan is the first born son of Goku. He was named after his dead
grandfather. He is one of the most powerful characters in Dragon Ball Z. His
power level as a child is matched by no other. His power is at its greatest
when he is angry. His mother Chi Chi, makes him study very hard so he can
become a scientist or something. After Goku is sent to another Dimension,
Piccolo decides to train Gohan. His power level increases and he can now
control it. He is also the first to reach Super Saiyon Level 2. Later on he
marries his High School sweetheart named Videl. From which he has a

Raditz is Goku's older brother and he is also born as a weak Saiyon. He
arrives on Earth in the first episode of Dragon Ball Z. Raditz was sent to
Earth to see if his brother had completed his job. After discovering that Goku
has turned to the good side, he kidnapps Gohan. He threatens to kill Gohan
unless Goku kills 100 humans. Goku and Piccolo join sides and battle against
Raditz, but to no avail. When Gohan sees his dad getting hurt, he summons
up his power through his anger and is able to crack Raditz's armor. This
weakens Raditz and it is just enough for Goku to hold him still so Piccolo
can use his Special Beam Cannon (or Makankosappo, American censors
changed the name because its loose translation is screw beam of the devil).
The attack works and Raditz is killed (or sent to another dimension,
whichever you prefer). Unfortunatly, Goku is also killed during the attack.

Vegeta is the prince of the Saiyons. Being the only Saiyon with royal blood,
he is very selfish and confident. Due to his large ego, he gets very angry if he
is losing a battle. After the death of Raditz, Vegeta and Nappa overhear
Piccolo's conversation about the Dragon Balls. They decide to go to Earth
and wish for eternal life. After his defeat by Goku with some help with Krillin
and Gohan, he goes to Namek in search of the other set of Dragon Balls.
Here he is defeated by Recoome. This is when Goku arrives and makes short
work of him. Eventually he respects Goku, but would still rather beat him in
battle. He ends up marrying Bulma, and having two kids, Trunks, and Bra. Return To Top | |

Nappa is an elite Saiyon along with Vegeta. When planet Vegeta was still
around, he was the head of their military. But when they arrive on Earth, he
is Vegeta's right hand man. Nappa is very stupid and careless and is almost
defeated because of it. Vegeta would end up warning him before it is too late
and because of this Earth's Special Forces Team is unable to defeat him.
When Goku arrives, Nappa is unable to lay a finger on him. Nappa gets
steamed and goes for Krillin and Gohan. Goku uses the KaioKen attack and
just about knocks him out. For being so foolish and weak, Vegeta kills him,
leaving only two full blooded Saiyons left in the entire galaxy. Return To Top | |

Broli, or the one and only. He is the "Legendary Super Saiyon." He only
appears in the movies and he really doesn't enter the Anime or Manga story
line. Broli is part of the Saiyon legacy that happened over 10,000 years ago,
which started from his birth into a low level Saiyon household. From what is
seen, he is always at Super Saiyon level 2 and a half. I believe he is the Saiyon
mentioned in the anime, that was so powerful that he destroyed himself. Return To Top | |

Turles has only appeared in Dragon Ball Z Movie #3, "The Tree of Might."
Turles plans to plant a seed to the Tree Of Might so that he can eat its fruit
and become super powerful. The idea is that the tree will sprout and suck out
all of the nutrients from a planet killing everything on it. It thens bares fruit,
with all of those nutrients packed inside, and whoever eats it becomes
powerful beyond imagination. Goku almost defeats Turles until he eats one of
the fruits that are not quite ripe yet. He still gains a huge amount of energy.
And Earth is almost defeated until Goku makes a Spirit Bomb (Genki Dama)
that draws energy from the tree itself. He then uses it to finish of Turles, and
Goku saves Earth from destruction again. Return To Top | |

Goten is the second son of Goku. He is also very powerful at a very young
age. By the age of seven, he is able to go to Super Saiyon Level 1. The only
problem is that he cannot improve upon his power to show his full potential.
Also Chi Chi doesn't force him to work hard in his studies like she did
Gohan. Maybe she sees that is was a waste or something. Return To Top | |

Trunks is the purple haired boy from the future. He comes in and defeats
Frieza and Cold later on in the Z series. He warns the heros of big trouble
awaiting them in three years and then leaves. I really don't know too much
about him except that he is the son of Bulma and Vegeta. Return To Top | |

Bulma is the young blue haired girl that is usually at the Kame house. As the
daughter of the founder of Capsule Corp. she is very high-tech. For instance
she took Raditz's scouter and converted it so it would display in English
(really Japanese). She at first wanted to collect the dragon balls to wish for a
boyfriend, I guess until she married Vegeta. She also originally wanted to

Yamcha started out as one of Goku's enemies, but later became his ally.
Yamcha has modeled his style after the wolf. Having many fast and strong
attacks. He used to go out with Bulma but since then he has been shy around

Ox King's name is not actually Ox King. It was changed over for the
American version of Dragon Ball Z. His Real Name is Gyuu Maou, or
magical cow king. It is basically the same thing. Anyways, Ox King is
suprisingly large but yet a real softy. He is Chi Chi's dad and he is highly

The daughter of Ox King, mother of Gohan and Goten, and the wife of
Goku. She almost looks like Bulma except her hair is black not blue. She
really gets annoying when she is worried about Gohan's studies. She gets
really bossy. Chi Chi is a real airhead. When Gohan and Goku were fighting
on the battle field, the slightest thing would make her faint. Otherwise, she's

Krillin is short, bald, he has no nose, and he has six little dots on his
forehead. He is not really powerful but he does have some strength for his
size. Eventually he becomes a close friend to Goku and sort of a older brother
to Gohan. Probably his coolest move is the destructo-disc. At full power it can cut
through anything. This was one of the close demises of Nappa, when he
thought it would be funny to catch it. Thanks to a quick warning from Vegeta

Tenshinhan, or better known as Tien, is pretty strong. Probably his easiest to
remember feature is that he has three eyes. I have also never seen him close
his third eye under his own will. It is only closed when he is knocked out.
Another person to mention is ChaotZu. He is always with Tien so I
might-as-well talk about him here. ChaotZu is a little tiny guy that looks like a
mime. But only being around three feet tall he has increadable strength. He
almost killed Nappa with a Kama-Kazi attack. And again, Vegeta warns
Nappa in time to save the stupid fool. Not much else is known about these
two except how they earn a living. Tien and ChaotZu would bring a monster
into a city. Eventually they would get payed to chase the monster away. Not
too bad of a fraud, huh? There was also a mistake in the T.V. series. During one episode, Krillin and Piccolo use the tri-form technique to attack Nappa. In actuality, Tien is the only person to master the tri-form technique. Return To Top | |

First things first, Kammi and Piccolo are the same guy. While on Earth, a
Namek tried to get rid of all the evil in his body. By doing so he split into two
people, Kammi (good side) and Piccolo (bad side). Piccolo plans to take over
the world until he starts to train Gohan. Piccolo eventually turns to good
when he blocks the blast of Nappa to protect Gohan. He continues to get

Frieza is a lizard like person with a sort of glass dome on top of his head. He
is extremely strong but yet he talks in a very polite way. In the American
version his voice sounds like a woman, I don't know what it sounds like in the
Japanese version. Anyways, Frieza went to Namek to collect the Dragon Balls

Dodoria is one of Frieza's henchmen. He is rather powerful even though he is
fat. His I.Q. is probably right around Nappa's. I think Gohan put it best:
"Let's rumble you pink piece of putty!" That kinda sums it all up. Return To Top | |

Another of Frieza's henchmen. Zarbon has green hair, and he thinks he is
super beautiful. He is much stronger than Dodoria but not as strong as
Vegeta. He beats Vegeta once in his transformed state (he becomes a huge

Dende is a young Namek that is saved by Gohan and Krillin. He is portrayed

A five man team hired by Frieza to collect the seven Dragon Balls. They act
really stupid but they are super strong. The members are: Captain Ginyu,
Guldo, Bertaa, Recoome, and Chase. The Ginyu Force is actually a parody of

Kamesennin Mutenroushi, or better known as Master Roshi owns the Kame
house. His name literally means turtle master, maybe that is why there is a
turtle living at his house. Anyways, Roshi was the strongest man on Earth

Guru is the eldest Namek. He is very wise and powerful. He is not powerful as
a fighter (I doubt he could get out of his chair) but as a leader. He is able to
unlock the dormant power in Gohan and Krillin, making them much more

Nimbus is not actually a Dragon Ball Z character but just a floating cloud of
energy. Goku calls upon him when he needs a ride. Nimbus can travel at
incredable speeds without getting tired. It is very helpful for Goku because
